REFLECTIVE DEPTHS

This collection explores the synergy between surface and deeper expression. I am an intuitive printmaker, working primarily with handmade acrylic monoprints which I then collage into compositions. I am fascinated by the effect of translucent layers of sheer rice or mulberry papers that almost melt when applied with an acrylic medium. The results are subtle, inviting the viewer to look deeper to see what lies beneath. An analogy can be drawn with those we encounter in our daily lives, with the invitation to look beyond the surface of perception. What is revealed on deeper consideration? Do we see a reflection of ourselves?
